We came, we saw, we cybered

On Tuesday 1st July our Technical Director Marc Wickenden hosted a series of cybercrime workshops at the Dock startup hub in Leicester.

We ran four short half hour workshops which ran through a basic spear phishing attack against a fictitious UK business.

Most of the attendees represented small businesses with over half being Dock tenants. Judging by the feedback we had on the day and after the event everyone seems to have enjoyed themselves and came away armed with new food for thought about their own business’ cyber security position.

The event was certainly aimed at small businesses and we discussed some of the recent initiatives aimed at helping SMEs get started, or get maturing their information security approach. One of those being Cyber Essentials.

Afterwards many attendees chose to hang around and “enjoy” some live demos including one of our old favourites, the Inception DMA Windows 7 login bypass.

Big thanks go to Leicester City Council and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) who funded the event and to Dock for hosting in their rather swanky eco building.

There’s some pictures up on our Google+ and Facebook pages and if you were there please let us know what you thought.
